New distribution system will accelerate the delivery of web pages and other internet-based content to users around the world.
DediPower, a managed hosting provider, yesterday announced that it is launching Content Delivery Network (CDN) - a new distribution system that will accelerate the delivery of web pages and other internet-based content to users around the world.
The company states that ideal for websites with a global user base, its CDN improves the speed, reliability and performance of websites without organizations having to invest in additional servers. By replicating files locally in 'caching' or 'edge' servers, located in the company's data centers in America, APAC and EMEA, CDN enables data to be delivered to users with greater speed and reliability - wherever they are based.
It further states that CDN also uses advanced web analytics to create a global 'heat map' of traffic sources, providing businesses with a clearer understanding of their web user base and its geographic dispersal. CDN can load balance origin servers ensuring higher uptime in case of a failure in the origin server. It also uses ultra low-latency HTTP delivery to detect file and content changes; replicating them at local nodes within 5 minutes. At the same time, it detects secure content and ensures that it is not shared between website users.
Craig Martin, CEO of DediPower explained, "The clever part is that CDN automatically routes the user's request for content to the appropriate caching server, based on their location. This makes it perfect for international organizations with a large geographically dispersed user base. With CDN, we can deliver centralized web services, e-commerce and enterprise solutions anywhere in the world, without compromising the user experience or incurring substantial costs to protect it." "CDN is also ideal for coping with large global traffic spikes such as when handling regional events or promotions. For example, if a site experiences a huge hit from users in Australia, the Australasia nodes will handle CDN traffic and provide extra capacity automatically," Martin added.
International vehicle and part dealers, JustKampers, is one of DediPower's first customers to switch to the new CDN hosted service. Their IT Director, Ashley Swatton, commented, "Dealers, consumers and the media come to our site from all over the world to source and buy product, to obtain information and guidance and to join our active social communities. The CDN platform has removed the strain from our hardware during busy periods, dramatically improving page speeds and allowing us to handle high numbers of simultaneous requests without impairing web performance for the user."
