Hosting Controller Updates Control Panel 8.12
Hosting Controller Updates Control Panel 8.12
7th September 2011
Launches support for IPv6 and Exchange 2010 SP1 Hosting Switch.
Hosting Controller, a developer of automation solution for shared and enterprise hosting, recently announced that it has launched support for IPv6 and Exchange 2010 SP1 Hosting Switch in its unified control panel. This release is part of HC control panel 8.12 update that supports Exchange 2010 SP1 Hosting Switch and IPv6 on Windows & Linux servers.
The company articulates that Exchange Server 2010 SP1 is the first multi-tenant ready Exchange Server version that enables hosting service providers to create and manage multiple organizations in the same Active Directory forest. Recent release of HC control panel offers comprehensive support for Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP1 Hosting Switch in a shared multi-tenant environment that includes automatic provisioning of new accounts. The solution comes with a comprehensive self-serve portal for end customers.
It mentions that HC can be installed on systems having IPv6 or IPv4 only or as a dual stack for IPv4 and IPv6. HC panel also supports IPv6 addresses for Name based and IP based websites, provisioning of AAAA record in DNS Manager and database connectivity using IPv6. The robust API and flexible architecture allow Hosting Controller automations tools to be deployed with new or existing systems.
"HC8.12 release reflects Hosting Controller's commitment to providing its customers with the tools they need to support complex hosting operations," said Babar Zaman, Vice President of Business Development at Hosting Controller Inc. "Since Exchange 2010 SP1 in hosting mode doesn't allow the usage of the Exchange Management Console (EMC), therefore HC control panel becomes the natural choice of hosted service providers to provision organizations and mailboxes in Exchange 2010 using a special '/hosting' switch in 'Hosting Mode'."
Babar added, "Compatibility with IPv6 networking is mainly a responsibility of software companies, as suggested by American Registry for Internet Numbers that all internet servers shall be ready to serve IPv6-only clients by January 2012. So we have made it possible for our customers to use additional features implemented in IPv6."

Zen Internet Enhances Zen Vault Enterprise for the Channel
Company makes further enhancements to its cloud based online data backup solution.
Zen Internet, an internet service provider, today announced that it has now made further enhancements to its cloud based online data backup solution, Zen Vault Enterprise.
The company articulates that there is a huge cost to the UK economy every year to restore business data that has been lost due to either human error or IT failure. This year there has been severe weather conditions, travel strikes, the financial crisis and now the recent UK riots. Whatever the event it is essential that businesses are prepared with an effective disaster recovery plan in place. Zen Vault Enterprise, the cloud based data backup service designed and built based on feedback from Channel Partners, now has enhanced functionality thanks to a platform upgrade.
According to it, the upgrade widens the market opportunity for Partners by providing compatibility with MS Exchange 2010 and MS SharePoint 2010, together with other core business applications. The Management Console now provides Partners with the ability to segment users into meaningful groups via the use of Collections, and the implementation of de-duplication improves the speed and efficiency of backups. Also, for Partners managing large data sets, there are further improvements to the speed of backups thanks to smarter small file management.
The company explains that Zen Vault Enterprise provides automated offsite backup for any combination of servers, desktops and laptops across a business, automation of the backup process is provided using Attix5 Professional backup and recovery software. Specifically designed for businesses with multiple devices and larger storage requirements, Zen Vault Enterprise enables businesses to efficiently centralize data backup within the company's data centers through the provision of a large allocation of mirrored, UK based SAN storage.
It says that Zen Vault Enterprise also gives IT administrators full visibility and control over the backup process through the use of a centralized management console. The management console enables administrators to monitor the performance of device backups through a single portal therefore reducing the time and effort associated with managing backup processes.
"Continually enhancing our value added services like Zen Vault Enterprise clearly demonstrates our commitment to working with our Partners and expanding our services so we can meet all their requirements. Vault Enterprise was specifically designed as a Partner centric product, it requires minimal start-up investment and allows Partners to easily establish themselves as a provider of online data backup solutions. We will continue to work with Partners who share a desire to provide an excellent end-to-end customer experience and understand the value of offering reliable, award winning products and services," said Andrew Saunders, Head of Product Management and Marketing, Zen Internet.
"We've been offering online data backup in various guises to our customers since 1998 and have long said that tape and alternative means have had their day. We've previously run the service in-house ourselves but due to our close and ever-growing relationship with Zen we're delighted to have them running the back-end for us. The Zen Vault Enterprise product brings Windows 7 compatibility to our portfolio as our existing online data backup product will not be compatible for several months. Zen have a similar focus to ourselves with regards to customer service. Over 95% of our clients are connected to the Internet via a Zen connection or have data housed on our Zen Managed or Dedicated Servers. Migrating our clients' backups to Zen Vault Enterprise is a logical progression for us and provides a really effective solution for our clients," stated Clive Sheppard, Technical Consultant, Synapse UK.

1&1 Upgrades 1&1 MyWebsite
Offers automatic optimization of web content for smartphones and a new social media interface that connects a business website to social media channels.
1&1 Internet Ltd, a web hosting company, yesterday announced that it has now upgraded its product 1&1 MyWebsite with two new important features - firstly, the automatic optimization of every MyWebsite site for display on smartphones. The second comprises a new social media interface that connects a business website with Facebook and Twitter. As a result, SMEs can now benefit from the important trends of 'mobile internet' and 'web 2.0'.
The company articulates that without any effort, website owners can now adapt their website to popular smartphones. The new feature identifies which mobile device is used when accessing a webpage and automatically customizes the page to the display. Thus, potential customers can easily access page content such as texts and pictures on the go. This increases the chances of further sales for a business owner. The importance of a mobile optimized website is also highlighted by recent IDC research showing that in the final quarter of 2010, smartphones surpassed global PC shipments for the first time in history (100.9 vs. 92.1 million units). Driven by the smartphone trend, people are increasingly switching to mobile devices for using the internet.
According to it, 1&1 MyWebsite (formally named 1&1 MyBusiness Site) can now be linked seamlessly to Facebook and Twitter. Website owners can connect their social media presence with their company website to inform visitors about new offers or news. The new social media interface offers a high degree of flexibility. Companies can also include recommendations for other social websites in their homepage and add, for instance, the 'Follow Me' or 'Like' button. According to research, enterprises which already use Facebook and Twitter, cite increased brand awareness, sales and customer communication as their main reasons for being active in social networks.
The company says that smartphone optimization functionality will be included for free with 1&1 MyWebsite Plus and Premium packages, available for GBP 19.99/month+VAT and GBP 29.99/month+VAT. The social media interface is available in all MyWebsite packages, including the entry-level MyWebsite package for GBP 9.99/month+VAT. Both features are now also available for existing customer websites without an additional fee. The 1&1 MyWebsite range includes 1 domain, 200 e-mail addresses and unlimited web space and data traffic.
It mentions that 1&1 MyWebsite offers industry-specific templates for over 120 business types and is ideal for small companies with either no website or an outdated one. With individual text, picture and design modules, any level of computer user can create a professional looking website in only a few minutes - without risk, as the company offers a 30-day risk free trial. There are 30 new layouts added to the Plus and Premium packages, making website creation with 84 design-variations even more flexible and customizable.

Facility in Sao Paulo now among largest multi-tenant data centers in Latin America.
Terremark Worldwide, Inc., a provider of managed IT infrastructure services, yesterday announced the latest expansion of its Sao Paulo, Brazil data center, the Network Access Point (NAP) do Brasil. As part of the expansion, the company took over operation of the entire 185,000-square-foot data center facility, adding 15,000 square feet of raised floor space to its current operations. This expansion makes the NAP do Brasil - which is capable of housing approximately 100,000 servers - one of the largest multi-tenant data centers in the region.
The company states that the expansion of its operations in Brazil is part of its overall global strategy to deliver advanced infrastructure and managed IT services through its network of close to 50 strategically located data centers. The company further states that its NAP do Brasil in Sao Paulo is home to the most important internet exchange point in Latin America with massive and diverse connectivity from the region's largest carriers. As part of the company's expanded global footprint of nearly 50 data centers, the facility delivers a broad range of services from its expanded IT solution portfolio that includes the combined leading cloud, security and IT capabilities of the company and Verizon. Since deploying its cloud computing infrastructure in the Brazilian data center more than a year ago, customers have been able to leverage its global cloud infrastructure for the secure and agile computing resources their business-critical applications require. The company also delivers its leading solutions across Latin America from some of the most connected data center facilities in Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
"Our main focus in expanding our Sao Paulo data center is to provide local customers with a secure, highly available hosting environment for their mission-critical applications," said Hugo Zanon, General Manager of Verizon's Brazilian Terremark operations. "The NAP do Brasil offers our multinational customers a globally connected facility they can leverage as they deploy the IT resources needed to tap the growing Brazilian and Latin American markets."
