Hosting.com Attains VMware vCloud Powered Validation

Achievement illustrates to customers that the company's cloud services are underpinned by VMware's virtualization and cloud computing technology.

Hosting.com, a provider of managed hosting, cloud hosting and colocation solutions, yesterday announced that its Cloud Enterprise public cloud service has achieved VMware vCloud Powered status. The company claims that this achievement illustrates to customers that its cloud services are underpinned by VMware's virtualization and cloud computing technology, namely VMware vSphere and VMware vCloud Director. A member of the VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP), the company's VMware vCloud powered service delivers a set of cloud computing services across a common platform, supporting the largest set of existing applications and offering distinctive application mobility uniquely available from VMware.

It says that the company's customers have the ability to move workloads from their VMware vSphere-based virtualized or private cloud environment to the VMware vCloud powered service and back again. This application portability is a key differentiator allowing customers to achieve the flexibility and security they need while enabling increased IT agility.

The company states that it sought VMware vCloud powered validation in order to offer vCloud powered services to its high availability customers and to enhance its disaster recovery and business continuity services. As a validated provider, the company can now provide users with improved responsiveness and agility, and reduced IT costs through increased consolidation, task automation and simplified management. The service will debut on November 1 for customers interested in leveraging virtual data center capabilities to extend their existing private processing platform or for those looking for the highest level of availability delivered in the industry today.

"Hosting.com's cloud service platform has evolved with the newest release of vSphere to allow us to offer vCloud powered services to our customers seeking high availability solutions and to leverage our disaster recovery and business continuity services to customers that make commitments to the vCloud platform," commented Craig McLellan, Hosting.com's Chief Technology Officer.

"The VMware vCloud powered program was developed to enable our service provider partners to differentiate themselves and help them bring their enterprise-class cloud services to market in this competitive landscape," said Don Schleicher, Vice President, Service Providers, for VMware. "We look forward to supporting Hosting.com further as it delivers on the agility and performance customers are looking for in the cloud computing landscape."
