Open-Xchange Partners with Acens

Acens to provide free business-class email to more than 300,000 customers.

Open-Xchange, a provider of open source collaboration software, today announced an agreement with Acens, a web hosting service provider, to bring cloud-based business email and collaboration capabilities. Acens will replace its Atmail-based webmail system with Open-Xchange providing all 300,000 email accounts with the full webmail, mobility and teamwork capabilities of Open-Xchange. The implementation is scheduled to be completed this fall.

According to the company, Open-Xchange integrates email, calendar, contact and task management with advanced groupware features such as information management and document sharing, along with cutting-edge social network integration. The cloud-based application can be accessed with a standard internet browser (without installing software) and a PC, notebook, iPad or smartphone. The mobility capabilities enable users to receive push email and synchronization of contacts and calendars on their smartphones, including iPhone, Android-based devices, Nokia, Windows Mobile and others.

"Acens will provide its customer base with Open-Xchange's full-featured Mobile WebApp and collaboration capabilities free of charge for an initial trial period," said Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange. "We love that approach as we are convinced that this innovative move gives Acens a real competitive advantage against other cloud offerings such as Microsoft Office 365 or Google Apps."

"Acens customers will be able to boost their individual productivity with Open-Xchange in the center of their online communication," said Jose Cerdan Ibanez, CEO, Acens. "They will see how Open-Xchange helps to efficiently manage calendars, contacts and messages from different email accounts, as well as social networks, from a single application."
