Redesigned application brings management tools to tablets and more smartphones.
SoftLayer Technologies, an on-demand data center services provider, recently announced the release of its Mobile app for Windows Phone 7 and Mobile HD app for iPad. Specifically designed for the Windows Phone 7 environment and iPad's screen size, the new apps bring robust server and account management tools right to its customers' fingertips, anywhere they go.
The company mentions that the new apps feature fast menu navigation and enhanced design, delivering mobile control over many infrastructure management functions also found in its Customer Portal including:
Tickets - Quickly create a new ticket for a support request or view existing support tickets and check their statuses.
Servers - View performance details and control basic functions for your SoftLayer Dedicated Servers and CloudLayer Computing Instances. Easily turn a server off or on, ping the server to test its network availability, or reboot.
Bandwidth - Monitor the bandwidth usage of your SoftLayer Dedicated Servers and CloudLayer Computing Instance.
Accounting - Get up-to-date account information and view and download invoices.
It articulates that the company's Mobile for Windows Phone 7 is available for free download through Marketplace - Microsoft's virtual store - and its Mobile HD for iPad is available for free download through the iTunes Store. Updates and enhancements have also been made to iOS versions of the app and are available for free download through the iTunes Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The company's applications for other mobile devices, including Android smartphones, are also available for free download.
"We focus on giving customers total control over their infrastructure. This means being able to manage your services when, where, how, and on whatever device you want," said Nathan Day, Chief Scientist for SoftLayer. "Our Mobile app for Windows Phone 7 and Mobile HD app for the iPad extend our suite of management clients to the mobile platforms our customers use most, and that includes Android as well. We're already hard at work innovating the next versions of these apps so our customers can take advantage of even more features and functionality."
