GlobalSign HackAlert Now Available Through CloudFlare Apps

Company's malware detection and early warning system HackAlert is now available through CloudFlare Apps.

GlobalSign, a Certification Authority (CA) and provider of SSL Partner Programs, today announced that it has partnered with CloudFlare, a web service performance and security solution provider, to offer its malware detection and early warning system, HackAlert, via CloudFlare Apps. HackAlert will protect CloudFlare's customer base by identifying drive-by downloads and providing alarms for 'zero-day' malware threats hidden in websites, protecting website owners and their customers from the damaging effects of malware. HackAlert is available via the CloudFlare App marketplace starting at USD 49 per year.

The company articulates that everyday thousands of websites are hacked and used as vehicles to distribute malware to website visitors. Malicious code is injected into unsuspecting websites to compromise PCs and spread virus', hijack computers, or steal personal data. Once a website becomes infected with malware, the damages are usually irreversible; search engines like Google will flag the infected site and alert potential visitors of the danger of visiting the site in the search results and the browser interface, immediately driving down website traffic, and in turn causing loss of brand reputation and revenue.

According to it, introducing HackAlert to CloudFlare's customer base via CloudFlare Apps will give website owners an early warning and detection solution should their site be injected with malicious code. HackAlert uses numerous techniques to actively analyze the content of each webpage for signs of compromise and ensure even the newest and most advanced malware distribution techniques are identified. Delivered as a cloud-based web service, users do not have to install or download any software. Users are immediately notified via real-time if malicious code is found on their site with the snippet of malicious code for quickly and easy remedy, essentially allowing website owners to confidently do business with their customers knowing their website, customers, and brand reputation will be protected.

The company states that CloudFlare Apps is a service that makes installing web applications fast, safe and one-click simple. CloudFlare Apps allow web applications to be activated through CloudFlare without requiring code changes. The HackAlert solution is now available via CloudFlare Apps. Users simply sign up through CloudFlare's dashboard and HackAlert will begin immediately monitoring users' web pages. The HackAlert plan allows for daily monitoring up to 100 pages and includes immediate notification via email along with the snippet of malicious code for quick and easy removal.

"GlobalSign anticipates the introduction of HackAlert Malware monitoring technology to CloudFlare's customer base will help raise awareness of zero-day threats as well as response to the increasing demand for web based protection services," said Steve Waite, Chief Marketing Officer, GlobalSign. "We are dedicated to helping organizations implement malware detection to protect their customers, their search engine traffic, and their corporate brand."

"CloudFlare is committed to web security," said Matthew Prince, CEO and Co-founder of CloudFlare. "That's why we are pleased to add GlobalSign's HackAlert service to our new Apps marketplace, specifically for websites owners who will benefit from early compromise warnings to ensure their valuable websites are not blacklisted by search engines like Google."

Servers Australia Partners with R1Soft

Company makes move to maximize uptime with the introduction of R1Soft Continuous Data Protection.

Servers Australia, a dedicated hosting provider, yesterday announced that it has introduced R1Soft Continuous Data Protection (CDP) software as its exclusive backup and disaster recovery solution. The company will leverage CDP to back up its entire shared hosting fleet. It will also offer CDP backups for dedicated server and virtual dedicated server customers as either a fully- or self-managed service.

The company articulates that by implementing R1Soft Continuous Data Protection, it aims to bring reliable server backup and disaster recovery protection to as many customers as possible. Whether the company needs to protect Windows or Linux, physical or virtual dedicated servers, it can do so seamlessly, thanks to CDP's convenient cross-platform design. A central backup repository and management interface greatly simplifies system administration; at the same time, CDP's hosting control panel restore allows it to put restore management directly in the hands of those customers that choose the self-managed backup option. CDP also provides maximum data protection for MySQL databases.

It mentions that along with CDP's reliability and affordability, the software's robust Bare-Metal Restore feature was a big draw for the company. Bare-Metal Restore quickly and efficiently restores the complete server file system and allocated blocks from any disk-based backup storage, in several fewer steps than is typical. The company estimates that R1Soft's Bare-Metal Restore feature will reduce current restore times by half, which translates into significantly less downtime for customers in the event of a server crash.

"In the industry, R1Soft is a well-known and trusted name, which helps put our clients at ease. On top of that, we did our own internal testing to confirm that their CDP software definitely lives up to its claims. CloudLinux has made a name for itself by increasing reliability by effectively isolating web hosting accounts from one another.

It articulates that CloudLinux was designed from the start to prevent a single resource-hogging web hosting account from crashing or even slowing down a server. CloudLinux Lightweight Virtual Environment (LVE) effectively cages each user, allowing precise control over the resources available while effectively isolating one account from another. If a site hosted at the company continues to experience a resource spike, customers can easily upgrade their account to a Managed VPS Hosting package for a seamless transition.

A2 Hosting's Marketing Manager, Brad Litwin, commented, "We take great pride in our 99.9% uptime guarantee. CloudLinux has helped us to further enhance our reliability. The levels of innovation that CloudLinux and A2 Hosting offer clearly parallel one another. I see zero irony in the fact that both of our companies are headquartered in Ann Arbor, a city that has been heralded as a technological hub."

"It's always been clear to us that A2 Hosting works hard to maintain their stellar reputation as a reliable, high-quality hosting provider," said Marv Steigman, Vice President of Marketing for CloudLinux. "The fact that A2 Hosting is now offering our solution serves to reinforce their commitment to offering the best possible experience for their customers. Leveraging the cloudSHIFT computing platform, SMBs now have access to the benefits of all aspects of an enterprise-class IT infrastructure previously unavailable to them.

The company avers that the cloudSHIFT service portfolio includes:

cloudSHIFT Applications - enables users to access a suite of secure cloud application services without the need to purchase hardware or software.
cloudSHIFT Desktop - a secure, affordable, trouble-free alternative to purchasing, managing and maintaining desktop equipment. Software traditionally located on the customer's desktop is housed and managed on servers in the company's secure data centers and accessible through a web browser.
cloudSHIFT Server - allows SMBs to take advantage of the company's expertise, facilities and support to achieve all the benefits of virtualization, without the time, costs and resources required to deploy and maintain their own on-premise solution.
cloudSHIFT VoIP - provides users with a business-grade telephone system that offers low initial startup costs, offsite disaster recovery protection and a simplified user interface, when compared to standard business phone systems.

According to it, the company offers a broad range of 'Grow-As-You-Go' IT outsourcing and cloud services. SMBs start by outsourcing what makes sense for their organizations, and then grow with the company as their needs grow. For example, it can host email and provide other infrastructure services, such as backup, recovery and archiving. Some organizations use the company's data center services, while other companies use it to host and manage their entire IT infrastructure - desktops, servers, networks and security.

"Unlike other providers that claim one size fits all, mindSHIFT understands that its customers have differing requirements and needs," said Mona Abutaleb, President and COO, mindSHIFT Technologies, Inc. "We like to say that we move our customers to the cloud at the speed of 'makes sense.' We take the time to understand our customers' business and IT requirements and then match cloud services to meet those needs - now and as their businesses grow."

"Off-loading our IT needs to mindSHIFT has proven a smart business decision," said Denise Doll-Kiefer, CFO of Salo, LLC. "We have access to enterprise-class services that have never been practical for us to use before. With mindSHIFT, our employees can remain focused on projects key to growing the business while mindSHIFT takes the remainder off our plate at a great price. They have removed a significant burden, our business runs more efficiently and the personal attention and support from mindSHIFT has been great."

Trustwave Introduces File Integrity Monitoring in the Cloud

Cloud-based solution makes file integrity monitoring accessible to customers of any size.

Trustwave, a provider of on-demand and subscription-based information security and payment card industry compliance management solutions, yesterday announced the release of its cloud-based file integrity monitoring (FIM) solution.

The company explains that FIM checks for additions, modifications, or deletions of sensitive files or other stored data. FIM can inform business stakeholders of unauthorized system or application access and indicate the potential presence of malware or other malicious activity. Deploying FIM as an ongoing simple or intermediate control can help organizations minimize these risks to avoid a data breach. As a cloud-based solution, FIM reduces costs and takes the burden off customers because all configuration, monitoring and reporting is performed by the company. There is nothing for an organization to manage or maintain on its own. With no hardware or management console to deploy, its FIM is a cost-effective solution for customers of any size - from small businesses with a few endpoint devices to the largest enterprises with thousands.

It further explains that acting as a watchdog, FIM provides an audit trail of what file resources were changed, added or deleted, helping organizations determine if such modifications were made outside of formal or regularly scheduled change or maintenance windows. FIM complements and extends other host monitoring tools including SIEM and anti-virus installations by explicitly detecting unauthorized changes to OS and application files and other system resources, which other host monitoring tools are not designed to do. The FIM also helps meet specific compliance needs, addressing regulatory and internal compliance requirements. Specific to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), the FIM addresses the requirement for file integrity monitoring and alerting.

"This solution is the most cost effective way for customers to get these critical security controls in place and address compliance requirements at the same time," said Robert J. McCullen, Chairman, President and CEO of Trustwave. "At the seemingly unending assortment of cyber attacks, FIM is an essential tool for early detection of a potential breach."

"With Social OX - where personal contacts from social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn or Xing can be added to the Open-Xchange address book - users can access that information on their mobile devices without having to do anything further."

"Scandinavia is at the forefront of adopting new internet and mobility technologies," said Morten Felsvang, CEO of Surftown. "By providing consumers, as well as business customers, with cloud-based services, Open-Xchange is the perfect partner for differentiation in a highly-competitive hosting market."

ICANN Approves New TLD Program

The company's Board of Directors approve plan to increase the number of generic Top Level Domains.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) today announced that its Board of Directors have approved a plan to usher in one of the biggest changes ever to the Internet's Domain Name System. The Board vote was 13 approving, 1 opposed, and 2 abstaining.

The company mentions that during a special meeting, the Board approved a plan to dramatically increase the number of internet domain name endings - called generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) - from the current 22, which includes such familiar domains as .COM, .ORG and .NET.

According to it, new gTLDs will change the way people find information on the Internet and how businesses plan and structure their online presence. Internet address names will be able to end with almost any word in any language, offering organizations around the world the opportunity to market their brand, products, community or cause in new and innovative ways.

The company articulates that the decision to proceed with the gTLD program follows many years of discussion, debate and deliberation with the Internet community, business groups and governments. The Applicant Guidebook, a rulebook explaining how to apply for a new gTLD, went through seven significant revisions to incorporate more than 1,000 comments from the public. Strong efforts were made to address the concerns of all interested parties, and to ensure that the security, stability and resiliency of the Internet are not compromised. It adds that the company will soon begin a global campaign to tell the world about this dramatic change in internet names and to raise awareness of the opportunities afforded by new gTLDs. Applications for new gTLDs will be accepted from 12 January 2012 to 12 April 2012.

"ICANN has opened the Internet's naming system to unleash the global human imagination. Today's decision respects the rights of groups to create new Top Level Domains in any language or script. We hope this allows the Domain Name System to better serve all of mankind," said Rod Beckstrom, President and Chief Executive Officer of ICANN.

"Today's decision will usher in a new internet age," said Peter Dengate Thrush, Chairman of ICANN's Board of Directors. "We have provided a platform for the next generation of creativity and inspiration."

Afilias Partners with HiChina

Alliance designed to help Chinese companies apply for 'dot.BRAND' Top Level Domains.

Afilias, a provider of internet infrastructure services, today announced that it has entered into a formal agreement with HiChina, an internet service provider, to help Chinese brands take advantage of ICANN's forthcoming New TLD Program.

The company says that the agreement recognizes HiChina's leadership and customer service excellence, and names HiChina as its preferred new TLD partner in China. Chinese brands who intend to establish a dot.BRAND presence online will benefit from the combined resources of the company and HiChina.

It mentions that brands interested in pursuing a dot.BRAND approach will need to act quickly to develop strong, compelling proposals to ICANN for their desired new TLD string, one of many areas where the company is able to assist TLD applicants. Other TLD Registry services offered by the company include a 'thick' EPP Registry, a globally diverse and redundant Anycast DNS network, and 24x7 call center and technical support. The company adds that it offers other premium solutions to augment its Registry offering, including technology to enable mobile phone compatibility for websites and a unique IDN-capable email solution. All its services are DNSSEC and IPv6 ready, and reflect 10 years of experience in supporting gTLDs operating under ICANN contracts.

"With the world's largest internet population, China also represents one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Brands based in China need unique marketing approaches to reach this large, diverse pool of consumers. One approach is a 'dot.BRAND' name, meaning the use of a brand name instead of a .COM or .NET," said Roland LaPlante, Senior Vice President of Afilias. "A dot.BRAND TLD lets major companies control how customers experience their brand online and helps break through the noise and clutter online." LaPlante added, "With the tremendous rise of Chinese language on the Internet, our partnership will enable Chinese brands to present their domains in Chinese script rather than in English alone."

"Chinese consumers want domain names and websites in their own language. The combined experience of Afilias and HiChina will provide a great user experience for the Chinese market," said Bridge Song, Vice President of HiChina. "With HiChina's reach and influence in the Chinese enterprise market, and Afilias' successful history of supporting more TLDs than any other company, this partnership helps ensure that Chinese brands are on equal footing with Western brands applying for dot.BRAND TLDs," added Bridge Song.

The company states that its MCS has been designed to address the critical IT issues confronting organizations, such as cost, agility, reliability and business continuity. Key benefits include:

cPanel Releases Enkompass 2.0

Latest release represents a significant evolution of the Enkompass product.

cPanel, a hosting automation software provider, recently announced the release of Enkompass 2.0. The company avers that this latest release represents a significant evolution of the Enkompass product including:

Emulation of cPanel & WHM's XML-API, an industry standard for billing automation
Support for Classic ASP as well as more ASP configuration options
Re-designed bandwidth monitoring system, allowing more flexibility
Re-written backup system, lowering resource usage and providing additional restoration control
Several significant user interface refinements beginning the moment you login
Many performance and resource usage enhancements

It says that Enkompass now supports Classic ASP, ASP.NET, ASP.NET 2.0/3.5 and ASP.NET 4.0. This can be configured on a per-account basis by a server administrator or reseller. Additionally, by granting the 'Configure ASP.NET Framework' role to web site owners, they can configure their account via the Web Site Owner interface. Also available is the option to switch between Classic and Integrated Pipeline Mode.

The company mentions that use of ASP is now optional, and accounts will not have ASP capabilities enabled by default anymore. Disabling ASP can save up to 20 megabytes of memory per account. As a result of this change, we have modified the default docs to be as follows (in order): index.php, Default.htm, Default.asp, index.htm, index.html, iisstart.htm, default.aspx, index.aspx, index.asp, and default.html.

It articulates that Enkompass 2.0 also introduces new measures to thwart malicious activity. Among them are two Tweak Settings: Commonly Spoofed Domain Protection and External Domain Protection. Commonly Spoofed Domain Protection prevents the use of commonly spoofed domains like cPanel.net and Google.com. External Domain Protection stops someone from registering an account on your Enkompass deployment using domains already managed by your local DNS.

According to the company, knowing when to update Enkompass is now easier. After upgrading to Enkompass 2.0, the system administrator will now receive an email whenever an update for Enkompass is available. To further ease the updating process, an icon will appear on the home screen in System Administration Interface when an update is available.

Future Hosting Upgrades International CDN

Company adds several key features to its international Cloud Delivery Network (CDN).

Future Hosting, an internet solutions provider serving SMBs and enterprises and developer of Future Engineer, yesterday added several key features to its international Cloud Delivery Network (CDN), which it launched just last month. With the new features, customers can now host individual files in the CDN, which can be uploaded through a new web interface or through FTP. Previously, the CDN only allowed customers to have the CDN pull files from the customer server and not upload files directly to each POP in the CDN.

The company mentions that additionally, these individual files can be stored with POP Pull on the CDN, in contrast to Origin Pull. In a traditional Origin Pull configuration, website files are temporarily copied to the CDN from an origin server when they are first accessed by a user. The files are purged from the CDN usually within 24 hours of access. In a POP Pull configuration, however, files are stored permanently on the CDN. This allows for faster performance, improved reliability, and reduced strain on client servers.

It avers that through partnerships with upstream providers, the company's CDN offers a physical presence in North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia, and additional locations are planned, including in the Middle East. This connectivity allows for low-latency, high throughput file transfers worldwide, and delivers failover protection and instant scalability. Both existing and new clients can add CDN-capability to their account.

According to the company, it is the developer of Future Engineer, a technical support automation system designed to automate time consuming server configuration and repair tasks on Virtual Private Servers (VPS), Future Engineer allows clients to receive a greater level of technical support than is available when technicians spend their time performing routine or basic maintenance tasks. With Future Engineer, technicians are free to spend their time offering a level of technical support that is unrivaled and otherwise unaffordable.

"After nearly a month in operation, our CDN has proven itself to be an asset to our customers and our company. We are able to provide mission-critical content delivery services to our international customers who require low-latency, high-bandwidth access to important data in cities around the world. Nothing meets that need better than the cloud," said Future Hosting Chief Technical Officer Nick Zyren.

Verizon Business Partners with Tata Communications

Expands global telepresence reach through agreement with Tata Communications.

Verizon Business, a provider of communications and IT solutions, today announced that it is extending the range of its immersive video, or telepresence, offering to enable virtual face-to-face collaboration in more locations around the world, under a new agreement with Tata Communications, the global telecommunications arm of Tata Group.

The company states that the agreement enables meetings to take place between its telepresence customers and any public or private telepresence room on the Tata Communications Global Meeting Exchange, which is one of the broadest telepresence networks accessible today and a gateway to the company's public room network spanning 31 cities on five continents. This will supplement its telepresence offering powered by its expansive global Private Internet Protocol Network service. Similarly, Tata Communications telepresence customers can use the company's facilities to communicate with Verizon customers.

It avers that telepresence replicates face-to-face interactions so realistically that it feels as though everyone is in the same room, even though they may be hundreds or thousands of miles apart. By leveraging collaboration technology to replace in-person meetings, telepresence reduces travel time and cost while reducing the carbon emissions associated with business travel. As a result, the service makes collaboration among employees, customers, suppliers and business partners more efficient and economical.

The company says that its and Tata Communications' customers currently can use Cisco TelePresence to conduct intercarrier telepresence meetings. Plans are under way to establish similar agreements with other immersive video providers and services to further expand the availability of telepresence.

"Video is the new voice for business, and it's becoming more and more available to meet the changing nature of work," said Farooq Muzaffar, Verizon Vice President of Enterprise Network and Communications Solutions. "As businesses expand beyond the traditional four walls of an office building, we're seeing more of our customers turning to advanced collaboration tools like telepresence for a bigger impact on their overall productivity and performance."

Peter Quinlan, Vice President, Integrated Business Video Services, Tata Communications, said, "We are delighted to welcome Verizon to our global telepresence partner ecosystem. Intercarrier connections such as this one will benefit customers by offering a broader telepresence business ecosystem that connects regardless of network or service provider. It's agreements like this that fundamentally make telepresence a truly global collaboration tool."

Cotendo Launches Mobile Acceleration Suite (MAS)

The new suite delivers reliable and fast content acceleration globally on any network or device.

Cotendo, a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and Value-Added Site Acceleration services provider, today announced the launch of its purpose-built Mobile Acceleration Suite (MAS). The company explains that this new suite extends its powerful existing web acceleration services to dramatically speed up delivery of mobile websites and mobile applications. With MAS, it now delivers reliable and high-performance acceleration for content to any device on any network in any location in the world. For content providers, latency on mobile devices is one of the top revenue killers. Long page-load times reduce conversions and engagement with applications or sites. Designed from the ground up to accelerate mobile content and to integrate effortlessly with the company's widely used and customer proven content acceleration technologies, MAS elegantly solves latency and page-load performance problems caused by slow or variable mobile network data connectivity rates, giving mobile network operators, website operators, and enterprise application developers a new way to ensure their content arrives faster and more reliably than ever to end users' handsets.

It mentions that MAS achieves this result without any required modifications to the origin site such as creation of separate web sites or infrastructure dedicated to mobile content. The MAS suite applies optimizations to speed up mobile content delivery at the logic, content and network layers. These services are available for deployment and are presently operating in numerous customer production environments. Deployments to date have resulted in radical improvements in mobile content delivery performance even for extremely dynamic content that has traditionally choked legacy CDNs and stymied other specialized mobile content delivery offerings.

The company says that its Mobile Acceleration Suite offers mobile-specific solutions that also leverage the company's other services for content acceleration including, Dynamic Site Acceleration, CDN Load Balancing, Advanced DNS services, and the unique Cloudlet Platform - the first CDN-integrated High Performance Cloud Application Environment. MAS is fully integrated with these and other company offerings. Customers can manage all of its services through a single simple-to-use portal.

"Delivering solutions to hard problems, such as last-mile delivery of complex, dynamic, and highly personalized content, is exactly the type of challenge we like to work on at Cotendo," said Ronni Zehavi, CEO of Cotendo. "Our technology team will relentlessly pursue innovation to ensure that we are providing high-value solutions to high-class problems that keep CIOs and CEOs up at night. We want to give them back their peace of mind and boost their bottom line while delighting their end users with unbelievably fast content delivery anywhere, anytime, on any device."

"While using Cotendo services we've seen up to a 33 percent performance improvement on our site. That's huge because our customers expect instant response when downloading apps to their handsets," said Allan Moger, Operations Manager for GetJar, an open app and entertainment store for smartphones. "Aside from the performance benefits, we chose to use Cotendo services because they understand the importance of the mobile space and are ahead of the curve in improving services for the mobile industry."

"Cotendo is a one stop shop for Redfin's content delivery and acceleration needs both for mobile and traditional end users. And thanks to performance improvements resulting from implementation of Cotendo's MAS, Redfin has seen healthy traffic growth in our mobile apps. Cotendo's console provides detailed real-time views of our traffic volumes, site usage patterns, and associated costs," said Michael Young, CTO of Redfin.com, a supplier of real-estate mobile applications and web-based real estate brokerage services. "Their innovative technology has helped us focus on what we do best - providing the best real estate search, service offerings and market transparency on any device."

Queplix Introduces Data Quality Manager for QueCloud

The data integration and data management cloud delivers advanced data quality functionality with core services through a single platform.

Queplix Corp.
, a provider of data virtualization, yesterday introduced the new Data Quality Manager for QueCloud, enabling companies to seamlessly create and maintain data consistency throughout the data migration, integration and management lifecycle - all with a single cloud-based platform. Data Quality Manager is also available on-premise with Virtual Data Manager. Both products are available today.

The company articulates that QueCloud securely integrates cloud applications such as Salesforce, NetSuite, LinkedIn, and FaceBook with speed and simplicity. Data Quality Manager addresses the common data quality challenges that create barriers for any data integration effort. As a central component of the QueCloud dashboard, Data Quality Manager is tightly coupled with the solution's core data integration and data management functionality. This is the first time a cloud-based data integration platform service has offered advanced data quality, integration and management in one environment, performing in a simultaneous continuum that eliminates the need to invest in separate tools.

According to it, Data Quality Manager delivers fast, automated and easy access to comprehensive data quality functionality for null fields, duplicate detection, syntax error notification, date range checks and much more in a manner that works seamlessly as part of the data integration and management process. As a result, companies no longer need multiple tools; data is made consistent from the onset of integration, and consistency is maintained throughout the data management lifecycle.

The company states that QueCloud is designed for the business user - no SQL programming is needed. The architecture includes a series of intelligent Application Software Blades that identify and extract key metadata and associated security information from target applications and move it to the Queplix persistent metadata catalog. Once integrated, data remains easily accessible to any number of additional applications, enabling a high degree of flexibility and scalability. As a result, organizations can dramatically reduce the lifecycle total cost of ownership for data management, by up to 75 percent or more over the cost of a traditional deployment.

"Today, companies must purchase separate data quality products that run data cleansing exercises in complete isolation from data integration," said Steve Yaskin, Chief Technology Officer, Queplix. "Not only is this more expensive, it's also far less effective since separate products aren't designed to interact with each other. Queplix provides data integration, data management and data quality functionality in a single integration-as-a-service platform. QueCloud and our on-premise product, Virtual Data Manager both now automatically check for and repair inconsistencies as part of the data integration and management process. This saves a tremendous amount of time, money and effort. No other vendor is doing this today."
