Company appoints CIO, COO and VP of Corporate Communications.
i/o Data Centers, a data center operator and colocation provider, yesterday announced three new appointments including Kevin Malik, Chief Information Officer; David Shaw, Chief Operating Officer; and Kathy Kim, Vice President of Corporate Communications. The company claims that the additions bolster its senior management team to support its rapid growth, global expansion, and position in the data center industry.
It states that Kevin Malik, as Chief Information Officer, oversees network operations, software development, governance, architecture, and IT strategy. Malik previously served as Vice President, Global Enterprise Applications, for Starwood Hotels and Resorts. During his 10-year tenure at Starwood, Malik oversaw Finance and HR systems in over 20 different countries and was a key advisor on data center and infrastructure trends.
The company further states that David Shaw, as Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for global Data Center-as-a-Service (DCaaS) Operations, Customer Account Management and Support Services. Shaw has extensive data center operations and management-related experience in the Healthcare, Finance, Defense, Government and IT manufacturing industries with region-specific expertise in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, and the Middle East. Shaw is certified in ITIL Service Management and earned an Electronic Engineering degree with the Royal Air Force. With Shaw's appointment, its co-founder William Slessman, now serves as Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for Global Engineering, Product Development, Manufacturing and Site Installation.
It mentions that Kathy Kim, as Vice President, Corporate Communications, is responsible for the implementation of PR strategy and oversees strategic communications, including analyst relations, as well as promoting the company's image in existing and new markets. Kim previously served as Senior Director of Marketing Communications for JDA Software Group, Inc., where she led its global rebranding initiative, and also held positions at PR agencies GCI Group and Fleishman-Hillard.
