Company expands its capabilities with new cloud storage solution.
ViaWest, a provider of managed hosting solutions, yesterday announced the addition of a new managed storage solution, the first service to be introduced under its KINECTed brand. The product portfolio features cloud-based storage and computing services for businesses of all sizes pursuing more efficient computing strategies.
The company states that KINECTed Storage features HP 3PAR storage arrays, which combine high-speed Fiber Channel with large volume SATA drives. Using dynamic file allocation with Fast RAID 5 technology, KINECTed Storage can provision the files users access most for the fastest access and the files used least for maximum cost effectiveness. In addition to introducing the KINECTed services portfolio, it recently opened the Hillsboro II data center in Portland, Oregon, as well as four other data centers in Utah under two separate acquisitions. This brings the company's total number of data centers to 21.
Roy Dimoff, Chairman and CEO of ViaWest explained, "By combining dynamic file allocation with multiple storage technologies, KINECTed Storage gives customers an unbeatable combination of performance, management ease and low costs. KINECTed Storage helps companies avoid large capital expenditures on technology that can quickly become outdated."
